The Sun. A Product?

The Sun. A Product?

The Sun may not be a product you can buy, but it deserves consideration in every house, in every climate, because it can save you money - or cost you. While it can be a free source of winter space heating, a source of free hot water year round, or a source for "free" electricity (with photovoltaic (PV) panels), it can also cause a house to overheat, bleach colors, and deteriorate ultra-violet (UV) light sensitive materials. Whether or not you use it to your advantage, you need to consider the Sun.

The Gouin Home Project

Two and one half years ago we, Edward and Melissa Gouin (pronounced Go-In), set out to create a home we could afford to live in by keeping energy costs under control. We are finally near the end of the planning stage for what has the potential to be one of the most energy efficient and cost effective homes in the United States, and the first of its kind in the world.

Older Elevations

If you are interested, here are a few older elvation drawings.  You might notice that the house has changed positions (mirror image).  This is because we changed the building site four times over the past 2.5 years.
